My name is John Marshall. I have been married for 28 years to the same wonderful women.
As a younger man I competed in numerous Marathons and Triathalons.
I have 30 years of fly fishing experience and I am very good at what I do.
My knowledge of stream entomology and trout biology serves my guests well.
I am a friendly and courteous person, who will go the extra mile to ensure
my guests a memorable experience. Being a graduate of The Culinary Institute
of America, Hyde Park, NY enables me to offer delicious stream side barbecues.
I represent the Sage rod company, so my guest can be sure that all quality
equipment, the best in the industry, will be available for their use as
well as flies, most tied by myself. A camera and film will be supplied at
no additional charge. I am a Trout Unlimited member and past director.
I have represented T.U. at a Conflict Resolution Workshop regarding water
drawing issues. I have demonstrated fly tying at local schools. I have made
numerous donations of time and services to worthwhile causes such as stocking
salmon smolt, stream improvement projects, and float trips both scenic and fishing,
as well as fishing how to presentations and fly tying classes. My donations
have been to hospitals, schools, Outdoor Women Program, Private clubs, Sport
shops, T.U meetings and banquets, and Forestry Service. I strongly believe in
and practice catch and release fishing. There was a fine article written about
me in Vermont Life by Walter Wetherell. Walter Wetherell devoted an entire chapter called
Wild Trout in his book North of Now, which reflected on a day floating the river with me.
Because I am on the river when not at my government job my guest have an in touch guide as
well one who is not dependent on guiding fees to pay for his mortgage and bills. I will
not hesitate to call a trip off if conditions are poor. My policy is to give back
100% of the deposit or apply it to another trip.
